THE SAFARI EXPERIENCE AT LIPADI HILLS
As the sole guests at the lodge, with your own dedicated professional guide and customized game vehicle - the schedule is entirely flexible. The optimal times for a game drive are often early morning and late afternoon, when the animals are most active, but your guide will adapt the drives to suit the seasonal weather and your wishes.
You may also view birdlife and animals from a waterhole hide, hike up Lipadi Hill, go on a rhino walk, track the wild dogs, or experience an exhilarating moonlit night drive.
The Limpopo-Lipadi Reserve only permits limited tourism, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the wilderness. Most wildlife sightings will be totally exclusive to your party so there is never any jockeying for position with 20 other vehicles!
A TYPICAL DAY AT LIPADI HILLS
Morning Drive
Equipped with your safari essentials of camera, binoculars, sunglasses & hat; join your expert private guide in the main lodge just before daybreak. Then, step aboard the customised open-air Land Cruiser and set off to explore the Reserve as the sun starts to climb and the animals begin their day. In between wildlife sightings, enjoy a morning coffee next to a waterhole or in the shade of an ancient Baobab tree.
Breakfast
Return to the lodge after the morning’s adventure and indulge in a leisurely breakfast around 10am. Help yourself to refreshing juices, coffee and a selection of continental breakfast items while a hearty cooked breakfast is prepared for you.
Rest & Recreation
There is plenty of space for couples, friends and multi-generational families to do their own thing at Lipadi Hills Safari Lodge. Spend the afternoon relaxing on a poolside sunbed with a good book or retire to the tranquillity of your room for a well-earned siesta. Head over to the yoga deck, cool off in the sparkling infinity pool or work out in the air-conditioned gym. Others can chill out in the lounge, catch up with emails and update socials with those awesome wildlife shots!
Most guests do not feel like eating lunch after the late breakfast, but snacks and drinks are always available from the bar and the interactive kitchen area. If you would like a formal lunch to be served, just let the lodge manager know in advance.
Afternoon Drive
Meet in the Lodge around 16:00 to continue your adventure with an Afternoon Game Drive. As the heat of the day begins to subside, venture deeper into the Reserve to explore the Phiri Plains and Mopani Forests.
Zebra, impala and giraffe gather at the waterholes and as dusk falls, leopards leave their treetop retreats and begin to hunt. Watch the orange skies transform the breathtaking landscape as you enjoy a Sundowner atop a granite 'koppie' or the banks of the Limpopo River.
Dining & Stargazing
Evenings at Lipadi Hills are quite magical – sharing tales of the day’s unforgettable moments bathed in candlelight, firelight and starlight. Choose an aperitif from the bar and take a seat in the elegant ambiance of the dining room or dine al fresco under the darkening sky. Relish in the company of friends over a delicious home-cooked meal made with local ingredients such as Botswana’s world-renowned beef.
After dinner, gather around the crackling fire in the boma for a nightcap under a magnificent canopy of southern stars. As your Safari Day comes to a close, withdraw to your luxurious king bed and dream of the wonders that tomorrow might bring.
